The Jaguars dropped a 15-5 decision at No. 9 Wichita State Wednesday and splits the series with the Shockers. With the loss, This time the Jaguars drew first blood opening the game the game with two singles followed by a sophomore David Doss sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third with just one out in the top of the first.Junior Eric Shortell laced a single to left field, scoring two runs to put the Jags up 2-0. The Shockers came right back in the bottom of the inning with a RBI double by Damon Sublett to cut the Jaguar lead in half with nobody out. WSU took the lead on a fielders choice error by Jaguar junior hurler Dan Goldberg scoring two runs for a 3-2 lead. WSU took a 4-2 lead on a pair of wild pitches by Goldberg. WSU added two more runs in the fourth as Sublett hit an inside-the-park home run scoring two runs, putting the Shockers up 6-2. The Shockers added another run in the fifth as Tyler Hill roped a double to left center scoring Josh Workman for a 7-2 lead. Junior Jeff Cunningham ended a streak of 17-straight Jaguars retired with his 20 home run of the season in the eighth inning making the score 14-3. With Cunningham's home run, he is one shy of the school record of 21. South Alabama loaded the bases in the top of the ninth for Clint Toomey who hit a two run single up the middle making the score 15-5. The Jaguars play a big Sun Belt Conference Series this weekend at Western Kentucky.
