West Virginia quarterback Patrick White was named Alabama Athlete of the Year by the United States Sport Academy. The Daphne native is also a candidate for the Heisman Trophy next season. He beat Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander and former L-S-U star JaMarcus Russell to claim the award yesterday. White, a junior next season, led the Mountaineers to an 11-and-2 record last season.
