South Alabama has rehired former coach Ronnie Arrow from Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi. Arrow replaces John Pelphrey, who left to become head coach at Arkansas. He was introduced today. Arrow coached the Jaguars from 1988-to-1994, going 114-and-93 and leading the team to two N-C-A-A tournament appearances. He was fired early in the 1994-95 season after his team started 1-3 and allowed 100-plus points in four consecutive games. Arrow, who helped start the A-and-M Corpus Christi program in 1999, emerged as a top candidate to return after U-N-C Charlotte coach Bobby Lutz turned down a reported six-year deal worth about 300-thousand dollars per season. Arrow led the Jaguars to a worst-to-first turnaround in the Sun Belt Conference in the 1991 season. It was the biggest turnaround in league history.
