- Kevin Kanaskie made a driving jumper with 33 seconds left as Middle Tennessee beat top-seeded South Alabama 63-to-60 in overtime today in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Lafayette. The ninth-seeded Blue Raiders hit six of eight free throws in the final 28 seconds of regulation. South Alabama had a chance to tie the game as time ran out when Daon Merritt intentionally missed a free throw with two seconds left. But Carlos Smith's three-point shot came after the buzzer. The loss was the fourth straight for South Alabama after a 13-game win streak helped the Jaguars claim the Sun Belt's regular-season title.
