– Richard Hendrix, a junior power forward on the University of Alabama basketball team in 2007-08, has informed Crimson Tide head coach Mark Gottfried and the basketball staff that he will remain as a candidate in the 2008 NBA Draft. The deadline for players to withdraw or remain in the draft was Monday at 4 p.m. CT.
“Richard called me and informed me he is going to stay in the draft,” said Gottfried. “We had a great conversation. I told him I loved him and supported him. I will be pulling hard and cheering for him as he moves on with his future.”
Hendrix, a native of Athens, led Alabama in scoring and rebounding in 2008 with 17.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He was a .598% field goal shooter this past season.
