West Virginia star quarterback PatWhite has a sprained joint in his chest, an injury coach Rich
Rodriguez says will probably take a couple of weeks to heal.
Luckily, the junior has that much time because the No. 8
Mountaineers have a bye week.
Rodriguez says White will be limited in practice this week and
should be fine in time for the next game, the October 20th
homecoming game against Mississippi State.
White sprained a joint that links the collarbone and sternum. He
was injured Saturday at the end of a 27-yard run in the third
quarter of a 55-14 win at Syracuse when safety Joe Fields rolled on
him.
It was the second week in a row White didn't make it through a
game. A week earlier, in a 21-13 loss at South Florida, he suffered
a bruised thigh that kept his status for the Syracuse game
questionable.
That injury didn't seem to make an impact, though. When he left
the Orange game, White was 12-for-15 for 148 yards and one
touchdown passing and had 14 carries for 89 yards and another
score. His efforts earned him the Big East offensive player of the
week honor.
