One night after ending a seven game losing streak, the BayBears started a winning streak, beating Montgomery 9-5 Tuesday. With the win, the BayBears move into third place, nine games behind first place Jacksonville. Southern League All-Star Matt Green (10-5) picked up his team leading tenth win, throwing six innings, allowing just two runs on nine hits. Josh Ford led a consistent BayBears attack, going 4-for-5 in a game where the BayBears scored at least one run in five different innings. The BayBears had 15 hits on the night, one shy of a team high for 2007. Emilio Bonifacio was 3-for-5 atop the BayBears lineup, and Cesar Nicolas, Rusty Ryal and Carlos Gonzalez all hit home runs for the BayBears. Each BayBear reached base at least once, and eight of the nine BayBears had at least one hit. The BayBears have now won two straight against Montgomery, a team who has beaten the BayBears 12 times in 17 tries this season. Montgomery had 14 hits in the loss. The BayBears play three more times in Montgomery, before returning home Saturday to host Mississippi at 7:05 PM.
