The BayBears were hitless until two outs in the ninth inning Friday, losing to Huntsville 2-1 in front of 7,732 fans at Joe Davis Stadium. Lindsay Gulin (1-0) was the winning pitcher, tossing five hitless innings for the Stars. Corey Thurman pitched a perfect sixth through eighth innings. Marino Salas picked up his seventh save, but allowed a single to Mark Reynolds with two outs in the ninth. The BayBears dropped the last two games in Huntsville, after winning the first three. Greg Smith (0-1) made his second start with Mobile, pitching five innings, allowing two runs, neither of which were earned. Clint Goocher and Abe Woody combined to shut out the Stars for the remaining three innings. The BayBears one run came in the top of the fourth inning, when Mark Reynolds scored from third base on a double steal. The BayBears return home Saturday at 7:05 to take on the Jacksonville Suns. Chris Kinsey (1-3) starts for the BayBears against Jacksonville's Justin Orenduff (0-0).
