Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs says he's sticking by baseball coach Tom Slater. Jacobs says he believes in Slater and the coach's plans to turn the program around. The Tigers have the Southeastern Conference's worst league mark at 7-and-17. They're almost certain to miss the SEC tournament for the fourth consecutive year. Auburn has been plagued by injuries to key players and shaky pitching and at one point lost 18 consecutive league games dating back to last season. Slater says the Tigers have plenty of young talent and that he expects a breakthrough 2008 season. Auburn closes the regular season with series against top-ranked Vanderbilt and at Kentucky.
