He's still on a ventilator, but doctors are planning to move Joseph Toomey out of ICU and into a private room today.
Toomey, who played football for Satsuma Hight School, was paralyzed from the chest down in a car crash November 20th. Doctors at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta say Toomey may never walk again. But his parents disagree. On Sunday, Toomey made everyone look at his feet and then wiggled his left big toe.
If you'd like to keep up with Toomey's progress on a daily basis, his parents have set up a website. See "Toomey Family Blog" under external links.
