MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Fans can no longer wear whatever theywant to Montgomery public school football games.
Police are enforcing school dress codes by barring spectators
who aren't dressed appropriately from entering the Cramton Bowl.
Police say enforcing the dress code at athletic events helps
eliminate fights and gang activity. The dress code bans oversized
clothing, flip flops, short skirts and low-cut blouses.
It also prohibits insignia and clothing that promotes illegal
activities and violence.
Montgomery Police and school officials say they plan to notify
opposing teams they will play of the new policy.
School spokeswoman Mona Davis says the school system wants
football games to be family oriented and not have distractions
prohibited during school hours.
