Despite Auburn's offer to pay him $425,000, Muschamp bolts for a smaller paycheck, but perhaps a better chance to get a head coaching job down the road.
Remember Gene Chizik took the same route three years ago when he left as Auburn's defensive coordinator and now he's head coach at Iowa State.
As for what Auburn's losing... a whole lot.
In two years on the plains... Muschamp defenses ranked in the top ten nationally.
Auburn held 21 of 26 opponents to 20 points or less.
