Over 50 years ago Bobby Bowden played quarterback and won a few games for Alabama. Saturday, Bowden defeated the team he admired as a child growing up in Birmingham. A packed house in Jacksonville saw no offensive production in the 1st half as both teams failed to score a single point. Bowden made a change in quarterback by putting Xavier Lee into the ball game and the Seminoles took off from there. First play of the 2nd half, Lee found De'Cody Fagg on a 7-yard out to start the scoring at 7-0. FSU struck again at the start of the 4th quarter with a Antone Smith 5-yard run to make it 14-0. But Alabama finally woke up from their slumber to close the gap when John Parker Wilson found a leaping DJ Hall in the back of the endzone to cut the Seminole lead to 14-7. But the 1st play after the score Lee found Fagg on a 10-yard out rout and turned it into a 70-yard touchdown which was the backbreaker. 'Bama scored on their next possession, but it was too little too late. Offensively in the 2nd half mainly, the teams were evenly matched with Alabama netting 329 yards of total offense to Florida State's 348. In all, Lee had 283 yards of total offense and 2 touchdowns. John Parker Wilson was 28 of 53 for 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.
