The University Of Alabama's Athletic Director has released a statement about the arrest of former Crimson Tide QB Kenny Stabler.

“Kenny has always been supportive of Alabama athletics, and it’s in times like these that his friends need to be supportive of him. It’s my understanding that this situation is in its early stages and a lot of the information is still being gathered. With that in mind, I think it would be disrespectful and irresponsible to comment any further.”

Mal Moore
Director of Athletics
University of Alabama

Stabler was arrested early Sunday morning during a traffic stop on Highway 59 in Robertsdale. He's charged with driving under the influence.

The “duck” syndrome is in play here, but the man has not been convicted of anything yet.  He also refused to take the breathalyzer, so all that is known for sure is that an officer decided there was enough evidence to lock him up.

Mr. Moore, you could be held liable as an accessory to a murder or lesser crime based on your statement of denial and support of a man who is a public figure and has been arrested at least twice before on drunk driving charges, sending a message to athletes and others that it is okay to drive drunk and risk the lives of others. What’s disrespectful is his and your behavior. “Early stages?“ Who are you trying to fool? NOT ME. He was found to be drunk, he was drunk and he was driving just like he’s done numerous times and been caught at least twice that we know of. He will probably go out this weekend and drive drunk again. I say lock him up. For the record I don’t know him, you or anyone involved in this case. I’m just another U.S. citizen fed up with arrogrant drunk drivers - - and their supporters.
