Cheese Biscuits Recipe

Biscuits

2 cups sifted Self-Rising flour
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Cut shortening into flour with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and stir with a fork only until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth; knead gently until smooth. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into rounds with floured 2 inch cutter. Place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 12 to 14 biscuits.

Cheese Biscuits
1 recipe basic biscuits
1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Jalapeno's

Prepare biscuits as directed;except stir in cheese, mustard and pepper after cutting in shortening. Bake as directed. Put Jalapeno on top.
