Nutritional Value of Brown Rice
· Contains bran of rice seed
· Lowers cholesterol level
· Lowers blood pressure
· Reduces risk of heart disease
· Complex carbohydrate
· Promotes weight management
· Vitamin and mineral content
Recipe:
1 cup brown rice or brown basmati rice
¼ cup dried, sweetened cranberries
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
¼ cup chopped walnuts, pecans or almonds
Cook the rice according to package directions
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Makes 5 (1/3 cup) servings.
