Cocoa, Florida - A Palm Bay man might have abducted his son and escaped in a sailboat, though it remains unclear where he is taking the boy.

Police in Cocoa say witnesses reported seeing Paul Martikainen and his 3-year-old son, Luke Finch, get in a 32-foot sailboat at a St. Petersburg marina on Saturday. A missing child alert has been issued for the boy, whom Martikainen is accused of taking during a supervised visit.

Martikainen's SUV was located at the marina.

Authorities say Martikainen isn't known to have a lot of boating experience. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the sailboat was purchased by one of Martikainen's friends earlier this year.
