Gulf Shores, Alabama - The Gulf State Park pier will reopen in its entirety on Wednesday.

The pier opened in July as the largest one on the Gulf of Mexico.

A portion of the 1,540 foot long pier was damaged during Tropical Storm Ida on Nov. 9th and 10th. Part of it reopened Nov. 13th but a large, octagonal-area and the coinciding end portion of the pier remained closed for repairs until Wednesday.

Having the entire pier open gives fishermen the ability to reach fish in deeper water. The pier was inspected both above and underwater before the reopening.
