Brookwood, Alabama - One inspector has been found dead and others have been overcome by extreme heat in an Alabama coal mine.

Jim Walter Resources spokesman Dennis Hall said Tuesday a second inspector and two miners on a mission to rescue the first inspector were overcome in the No. 7 mine at Brookwood in north-central Alabama.

He says the three have been taken to a hospital. Authorities did not immediately release the names of the victims.
