Day 9 of Putting It In Park is combining modes of transportation.

After biking seven miles to Channel 5 on Tuesday, it's time for a little change.

I decided we would combine bike and wave riding.

Jene' Young and I rode almost two miles to the bus stop at Providence Hospital.

Each Wave bus has a bike rack on the front. It holds two bikes. (extra bikes go inside the bus)

It's easy to drop your tires into the sections and lock them with the provided bar.

We loaded our bikes on the rack and boarded the bus.

Without a pass, you pay $1.25. Your bike gets to ride free!

I got a little nervous watching the bikes bounce around outside the bus but the rack really works.

The whole trip took us about 45 minutes.

FriedOkraEater - Are you Chad’s mom or dad?  LOL

After reading my comment again, I think I should clarify something.  Tiffany has done a great job on other stories, this one is just getting old.  If her News Director really did force this upon her she should have a long talk with him…

I never stress.  I just find it interesting that this story adds absolutely no value.  Why should we care? We have not seen anything (that we didn’t already know) that made us think how we can save money on our commute to work. I believe it still has to deliver a message. Perhaps I expect too much from a news station. I have loved the many years I have lived here but this story has small town written all over it.

Don’t get me wrong, I like humor in stories.  I just think this is not worthy of all the days it is taking up.  Sum them all up in one nice funny piece, perhaps as filler at the end of one of the shows.

After the piece today where she yet again decided to bum a ride (from a Harley club), I think I will be best served by watching another station.  I would like to see those guys offer rides to us regular folk everyday.

Well at least Chad Petri had a great gas story the other day.  Wow, value!  Imagine that…

Unlike you, I do not see this as hard news nor a science documentary.  It is a feature story that takes a lighthearted look at a situation we are all feeling at this time and probably doing little about except to grimace at the pump each time we top off the tank.

Lighten up!!!  If this little story is stressing you out, real life must be about to kill ya.....

I must say this is the most pointless story. It is no surprise that WKRG is now last in the ratings. I originally thought it would be interesting but it seems that the same methods keep getting recycled in one form or another. There is a request for methods of getting to work, but the obvious keeps getting ignored, WALK! Of course it may not happen because that is not easy enough.

Come on, this series would be moderately interesting if it related to the viewer in some fashion. I mean how many of us can bum rides off of people for free. Oh yeah, many of us need to get home from work. I will go as far as to assume that she did not roller skate or ride her bike home.  If she did really use the same methods to get home I assure you it would be on camera since this story is all about her. It does nothing for us, the viewing audience. Sadly, the synopsis above is the most telling.

take up

Im sure in the fringes like Baldwin county, West and North Mobile counties, and Washington county, a monorail could be built on medians.  However, there are overpass supports in the medians - but that’s what engineers are for.  MARTA made it work somehow - I lived there for over a year back in 05-06.  With such little traffic on the Africatown bridge, one side of the span could be dedicated to rail.

I wonder if a monorail could be built down the medians of I-65 and I-10.  That would be cool especially if it passed through a major hotel like at Disney World.

Also, we need to spur interest in a rail system along I-10 and I-65, similar to Atlanta’s MARTA.  If our state leaders want to actively recruit international corporations, we need to have such transport in place to sweeten the pot.  VW chose Chattanooga over Huntsville because Chattanooga took a risk on site prep.  We don’t need to be left in the dust when another big deal comes our way.  I think passenger rail service is a risk worth taking.

What about a rickshaw?????  Surely she could find a volunteer to pull that thing for her.  LOL

I think it is time to pull out some good old reliable livestock!  Or, maybe hitch a ride on a small plane and skydive over the office.
