Day # 1 was carpooling... or more like mooching a ride.
Monday would start the first full week of no gas and its time to test the Wave transit system.
Photojournalist Arnell Hamilton and I walked almost two miles to the pick up point at Providence Hospital.
We have $1.25 each and no time to spare. The Wave travels all over Mobile. We were headed into work on Route 1.
Day 2 two of Putting It In Park... catching the bus.
Paula Dicks works for the Wave and says usage is up but there's still plenty of room. "Now that gas is so expensive, people are sort of saying this is a reasonable alternative to what I'm doing. We want to encourage that of course."
We found the bus clean, well air-conditioned and simple to use.
Paula suggests going to the Wave website to get started. Click Here to find routes, times and prices!
We made it to the Bel Air Boulevard stop in about half an hour.
On Tuesday, we'll try out the neighborhood service so we won't have to walk to the main bus stop. Click Here to see how to do it!
We still have 17 more days of Putting It In Park.
