I flew out of town for the weekend and had to find an affordable ride to work from Mobile Regional Airport. On day 17 of Putting It In Park, I ride the Airport Shuttle. I discovered that taking the shuttle is cheaper than taking a cab!
Julie Bordes with Mobile Airport Authority says they don't advertise this service but its there if you need it. "One of the things that we've found is that if there's a delayed flight, our airport shuttle is always there. We stay until the last flight comes in and we're available at around 8 or 9 in the morning."
It's recommended that you make reservations a day in advance. MAA has several vehicles that operate as shuttles. One of their mini buses is powered by natural gas.
The shuttle prices range according to zone. For example, you would pay $7 dollars one way if you lived in West Mobile. If you were dropped off by one of the hotels at the Daphne exit on Interstate 10, it would cost $48 dollars.
Channel 5 is in Zone 3 so we have to pay $18 dollars each.
Since parking at Mobile Regional can range from $6-8 dollars a day, this method is cheaper for some travelers.
