BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A United Nations report says Alabama's
death penalty system is so flawed that the state may have executed
an innocent person, but the state's top prosecutor dismisses the
criticism.
A report by special investigator Philip Alston at the U.N.'s
Human Rights Council describes flaws in Alabama's system, alleging
that judges convert life sentences to death sentences for purely
political reasons and condemned inmates have inadequate legal
representation.
Alabama Attorney General Troy King accuses the U.N. of pushing
an ideological agenda. King says he doesn't believe judges impose
the death penalty for political reasons.

JLewisDean, i did not move to mobile, until 1982 and it was still the talk. this man should have been put to death a long time ago. i get cold chills even reading about his acts. if i had seen him in person un ah. my heart goes out to you. in order to protect society we must rid society of these killers and quit feeling sorry for them. all of a sudden the un is worried about death row inmates in alabama. no where do i hear them mention feeling sorry for the victims.

cmb1, I too was a young teenager in Tillman’s Corner at the time Whisenhant was commiting these murders. Been in the store numerous times, and I lived right across the road from where Mrs. Hyatt was found. I will never forget the terror he placed us all in during that time in Tillman’s Corner. I attended St. Elmo Middle School and Theodore High. I’m live in Mississippi now, but still think of those days often. Mississippi is set to execute a convicted murderer tonight at 6:00 PM he used a claw hammer. I wish Alabama was set to execute Whisenhant tonight as well.

I think when God said thou shall not kill he meant the person doing the killing in the first place. If they kill someone then so be it. They need to pay for it with their own life. Just make sure you have the right person before you do it!

It also said in Exodus 21:14 “He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death. “ These verses list four crimes to which God assigned the death penalty: premeditated murder, inflicting harm on parents, kidnapping, and verbal cursing parents. This came from the KJV Study Bible also. I say we need to go back to the Bible’s way of dealing with things. We have gotten away from it too much.
