I think I have figured a way to outsmart Boeing if someone can help me get in touch with head honcho’s-assuming NG/EADS gets to do anything other than sit back and watch Boeing re-bid.

OK-does NG/EADS get to rebid any part of the contract, or is this just for Boeing? If NG/EADS can get in there and pull a “real estate deal” for lack of better terminology, they might keep it after all. Just my brain working overtime here.

It sure is that way and this John Young is the guy that will be directly overseeing this next round of proposals.

Good info BamaBob. Makes me feel a little better already. These House members are messing with the hand that feeds Boeing. kinda like me throwing rocks at my best customer because they didnt give me all of their buisness.

Move to cut funds a ‘slippery slope’

WASHINGTON—The Pentagon’s top acquisition official warned Congress on Friday to avoid interfering with the Air Force’s decision to buy new aerial tankers from a Northrop Grumman/EADS consortium.

John Young, the undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, told reporters that moves by some House members to override the Air Force decision by canceling funding would open up “slippery slopes and dangerous precedents.“

A quick search shows that Young is from Georgia and was the assistant secretary of the Navy, before taking this appointment.  That doesn’t sound too bad.  The Navy has had a LOT of dealings with Northrop Grumman over the years.

“Young earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University.“

I hope that chief weapons buyer did not retire from Boeing.
