WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Barack Obama says he will end the
"don't ask, don't tell" military policy.
The "don't ask, don't tell" policy allows gays and lesbians to
serve in the military as long as they don't disclose their sexual
orientation or act on it.
Obama said this country cannot afford to cut from the military's
ranks people with needed skills for fighting. He made the comments
to thousands of gays and lesbians at a fundraising dinner Saturday
night for the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest
gay-rights group.
Since Obama took office in January, some advocates have
complained Obama has not followed through on promises to push top
gay rights issues.

“Thankfully, the president is doing what the majority of the people want by any statistics I’ve seen, instead of worrying about protecting an overly sensitive minority.” ???? if you would stay out of the gay bars you might see where the people in the military like the “don’t ask don’t tell.” and if it was put to a vote gays would lose this one to. you can talk inelegant till you blue in the face but that make you nether right or righteous, just an mule.

I realize the deep south is not full of hate and disrespect, but it’s sadly become what we’re best known for because a handful of nuts that ruin it for the normal people (hence the parody). The CA thing was about gay marriage, not the military. It’s a whole different battle that has more to do with people’s definition of marriage, not bigotry.

Your MO seems to be name-calling.  U ever tried making a point that didn’t involve involve disrepsecting people who are nice to you (and obviously much smarter than you)?  I notice the ladies just let it go. Makes u look like quite the tough guy there.

I ain’t interested in trading grade-school licks.  If u got a problem with gay people in the military, don’t join. U lost this one already.  Thankfully, the president is doing what the majority of the people want by any statistics I’ve seen, instead of worrying about protecting an overly sensitive minority.

lol your a joke to. Opening statement of hate and disrespect is a Deep South thing? What kind of a bigot are you? Oh yea your nic. A basher of bullies. Now why on the west coast did they vote down gay marriage? Ohh yea they’re from the Deep South to. Take it somewhere else, your not fooling anybody but yourself. You’re being a bully and bashing.  Nobody cares if it makes a couple homophobes uncomfortable? You’re a bigot as well. nite nite nut job.

Some of u sound like something from a parody of the deep south. I’m embarrassed for u.  Don’t u realize that most of the world got over the gay issue a decade or so ago?

If u carry the majority opinion, as u seem to think, why don’t I know more people who think that way?  I suppose their just too embarrassed to spread their bigotry when their name and face are actually showing?  If u are so sensitive that u don’t want to be in the military because you’re scared of some dude checking u out in the shower, u might not be in the right profession there, tough guy.  Until u step to the level of actually touching me, me and most guys I know would just laugh it off if some dude had a crush on me.  I ain’t gonna quit my job over it or go whining to the government to protect my delicate ears from hearing that some dude likes dudes. Get over yourselves.  Nobody cares if it makes a couple homophobes uncomfortable.  Real men aren’t threatened by gays.  They just don’t really care.

Welcome to the south, tallbird. Sounds like u are going to have a lot of fun here. Don’t let a couple bigots scare u off.

Love, I apologize on behalf of gentlemen everywhere for the dude who called you a joke. I think he should try picking on somebody who’s willing to treat him with a little bit less respect than u have.  You communicate with kindness, compassion, and intelligence in the midst of hatred and being outnumbered.  I don’t think he deserves to be around u anyway.

Religious beliefs don’t belong in law-making….One nation, under GOD…founded on the principles of Christianity. Shall we re-write that too,to appease the minority masses?

Those polls are a joke. you are by every thing you have posted on this site. You’re just being gay and most people don’t like being around gays. You shower with your husband and friends? Your open mind and gay friends have closed you off to the real world. Put it to a vote and see what happens. I just called two different Army squad rooms with over 20 in each both said no way, keep don’t ask don’t tell. Poll that.

Who did they survey? Mainly gays?

Hey ick-aren’t the FACTS that straight people don’t want gay people checking us over? That is the FACT in my book.

Myself, my husband, and the vast majority of our friends would continue with their shower, chat without directly looking at each others’ private parts (as I assume most straight people who are forced to shower together do anyway), and say “So, how’s your partner doing?”

I don’t think you’re absorbing the point, rm.  It’s not about their sex life.  It’s about having to go out of their way to hide the most significant relationship of their life just to avoid “making waves” amongst a minority. They are required to take an extra step to keep their relationships a secret that the rest are not required to do. It’s nobody’s business what their sexual orientation is.  It’s not about a right to flaunt it.  It’s about a right to live like anyone else and not hide it.  They want to put a picture of their partner next to their bed like the rest are allowed to do.

According to the Washington Post poll, 75% of Americans favor openly gay Americans serving in the military (it was 69% in a Gallup poll).  In a Zoghby poll, 72% of military personnel said the presence of gays had a positive impact or no impact on their morale.  Where is the idea that Obama is pushing something Americans don’t support coming from?

Religious beliefs don’t belong in law-making.

No point because we couldn’t agree with you? Now that is intelligent. Nice try. Next.
