Obama Pledges Support

President Barack Obama is pledging his support
for conscience protections for health-care workers that will be as
strong as those they enjoyed during most of George W. Bush's
presidency.
Obama reversed a policy that Bush put in place shortly before
leaving office. It required institutions that get federal money to
certify compliance with laws protecting the rights of health-care
workers who object to procedures like abortion. Opponents feared it
could also be used to refuse birth control, vaccines and
transfusions.
But Obama assured reporters from religious news organizations
Thursday that when his administration completes its review, "there
will be a robust conscience clause in place" for health-care
workers.
He added that "it certainly will not be weaker than what
existed before the changes were made."

I agree. That is just forcing views on someone. Hopefully he sticks with this one.

He has been flip-flopping all over the place, but most of those are not good for the country.  This change is the right thing to do.  No medical professional should be forced to perform abortions, if they have moral objections about such a thing.

I guess we just need to wait and see if he actually keeps his word. You know he did promise a lot throughout the election as well that he fell through on. Like you said “flip-flop”, never a good term to have to use in the same sentence as your president.

I like this flip-flop, but it is very hard to know how to take Obama.

Despite the rhetoric of the new administration (and the constant snarking on this forum) I’m not really seeing a lot of substantive change happening. It would appear that whoever you vote for, what you get is a politician.
