JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Unregistered Mississippians looking toweigh in on the presidential campaign between Democrat Barack Obama
and Republican John McCain are running out of time.
The voter registration deadline in Mississippi is October 4.
That's Saturday.
Citizens can register at their local county clerk's office or by
mail. Voters must be at least 18 years old.
Voter information and registration material is available online
at http://www.sos.state.ms.us/
Prisoners in local jails can vote November 4 if they are
registered and eligible.
Under Mississippi law, people convicted of murder, rape,
bribery, theft, arson, obtaining money or goods under false
pretense, perjury, forgery, embezzlement or bigamy lose their
voting eligibility unless in has been restored in some manner - a
pardon or by gubernatorial or legislative action.
