A hate crimes bill that includes protections
for gays and lesbians awaits a vote as the U.S. Senate returns to
work today.
Before the July 4 recess, members of the Senate Judiciary
Committee asked Attorney General Eric Holder whether the law could
be used to prosecute a minister who speaks out against
homosexuality if a member of that congregation then assaults a gay
person.
Holder insisted that "This is a bill to hold people accountable
for conduct, not for speech."
But the Rev. Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America, says
he and other ministers fear that their preaching would "be
scrutinized" and that a hate crimes law would violate their
freedom of religion.

Recently, Eric Holder dismissed a default judgment against two members of the New Black Panthers for unknown reasons.  These two men stood in front of an election place in full military garb, wielded weapons and hurled racially explosive language at those trying to enter the polls. Why weren’t those actions considered hate crimes?

A National Geographic documentary featured the primary subject, King Samir Shabazz standing on the streets of Philadelphia with a bullhorn stating that white people must die and their children should be killed.  Yet, the Department of Justice dismissed all charges against this man.

Now, we are to believe Eric Holder, when he says there will be some type of equity in this hate crime bill? I don’t think so! It will be another tool to be used to intimidate loyal opposition!!!

Oh. So now you are going all CIA on me. LOL.

i cant find out minimay, its a secret

The law was created to punish the old white man generation which is now the minority in our nation. If there are going to be hate crimes let all crimes that are against other race, sex, relgion, nationality bring it on it’s stupid.Lets just make it if you rob a service station you hate arabic people make it punishable by death.Tell these dumd lawmakers to leave stuff alone.Better yet fire them.

LoL. No. I do know people in it though. Isn’t that parade all men anyway?

minimay are you in the strippers? thought you were supposed to keep your mardi gras afiliations secret.

I think at one point she referred to me as the same category as prostitutes and strippers.

Yeah. We have to remember, forgiveness and understanding is also teach at church. Now this is not to say that all ministers practice what they preach either. I just think that some people take want they want to hear from their church and twist it into something else. By best friend’s mother was that way. Went to church whenever the doors were opened. However, she was the most closed minded and bitter person I had ever met. At one point she told me that I was walking in the dark and needed to go towards the light because of the type of underwear I wore. Heaven forbid if you do not wear underwear that meets your belly button!

Mini..right you are..if more people listened in church, and practiced what is preached, we wouldn’t have hate crimes.

This is like saying Gay Pride events are the reason people are gay. Unless the minister is organized riots against them then I do not see how preaching their beliefs in their church is the cause of hate crimes. Many people that go to church do not practice what they are preached.
