Alabama's Attorney General traveled to Mobile Wednesday to campaign for presidential candidate John McCain, but says he was not doing it at taxpayer expense. King told News 5 that while he did use state transportation to get to Mobile, he had several business meetings in the city. Jessica Taloney was at the noon rally to ask King about this. He says there are special rules that allow state officials to take a temporary "leave of absence". King told Jessica he and two staff members took a leave for the lunch hour to campaign for McCain, then went back on the clock to conduct state business in Mobile.
