City leaders announced today that the new All American Football League will hold it's training camps in Mobile.
The inaugural AAFL season kicks off in April. The league hopes to satisfy fans' hunger for quality football between the NFL and college seasons.
The AAFL will have six teams, including Team Alabama which based in Birmingham. Team Alabama will play it's home games at Legion Field.
The six teams will hold their training camps in Mobile from March 13-29th in Mobile. All practices will be open to the public.
"The decision to hold our first training camp in Mobile was an easy one with the unrivaled practice and meeting facilities, the accommodations and particularly the hospitality of the people of Mobile," said AAFL Team Alabama President Joe Cribbs. "The League and its six teams are eager to kick off our first practices here in March."
The NFL will provide officiating crews for all thirty AAFL regular season games, two playoff games and the championship game.

The ‘big deal’ is the Mobile economy will get a huge boost from the lodging taxes and spending this will bring into the city during a slow March.  For a city that can’t manage it’s money and has a sub-standard school system maybe it would help with no funding.

If Dr. David Bronner would of known about this 2007 funding shortage he would of bailed starting the RSA Tower project/Battle House. The City should be ashamed of the mishandling of money or the lack of school system investment.

To be honest, it’s tough to get the high-end labor talent to move into this area unless they send their kids to private schools or move to the Eastern Shore.

That’s our biggest challenge bringing outside investment. Notice the AAFL is here for only training.  A seasonal visit-They don’t want to raise their families here.
