TRAFFIC ALERT: Driver Life-Flighted After Accident on I-65 NB

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) -- Both lanes of I-65 northbound are once again Tuesday morning near mile marker 31 after a gruesome crash that involved two 18-wheelers.

Tractor trailers traveling in the same direction collided.  One driver was life-flighted from the scene with a large cut on his head. Firefighters said he was life-flighted due to possible internal injuries. That driver has been identified as Edward Beck of Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

The driver of the truck, Thomas Shirland of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was not transported from the scene.

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. Tuesday and the crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
