Teen charged with manslaughter in Huffman High School shooting death of Courtlin Arrington

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - - The Jefferson County District Attorney's office Friday morning announced charges against a suspect in the Huffman High School shooting death of 17-year-old Courtlin Arrington.

District Attorney Mike Anderton says Michael Jerome Barber has been charged with manslaughter and certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol for bringing a pistol to the campus of Huffman High and recklessly causing the death of Ms. Arrington. 

Barber's total bond has been set at $75,300 for both charges. Anderton's office tells us Barber is 17, but has been charged as an adult.

According to a release from the District Attorney's Office, they examined the evidence as it was presented to them after the investigation by the Birmingham Police, and issued warrants "for the person responsible for this horrific tragedy."
