Police and Fire Departments Raising Money To Fight Breast Cancer

During the month of October, the Mobile Police Department and the Mobile Fire Rescue Department are kick starting a campaign to raise breast cancer awareness and funds to fight the disease.

Both departments are engaging in a competition aimed at raising awareness. Breast cancer awareness shirts will be sold at each department.

The department that raises the most funds during Breast Cancer Awareness Month will have its chief dress in a pink suit to the Mobile City Council meeting on November 1.

If you would like to purchase a "Heroes in Pink" breast cancer awareness shirt, they are available for $15 at the Mobile Police Department Headquarters. "Fighting for a Cure" shirts will be sold from the Mobile Fire Rescue Department Central Station at 701 St. Francis St.

The Mobile Police Department will donate its proceeds to the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute. Mobile Fire-Rescue will donate to several charities including the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.
