People pack downtown Pensacola for Mardi Gras

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) - Downtown Pensacola was packed with people Friday enjoying Mardi Gras festivities.

The Mardi Gras parade brought out tons of people looking to have a good time on Palafox Street.

Brandon Smith says Pensacola has one of the best celebrations in the country.

"As soon as those drums start beating and they start coming down the way, all I can think of to do is dance," Smith said.

One woman said Mardi Gras is a tradition in the south, and she wouldn't miss it for anything.

"The partying and being part of a krew," she said.

There's another parade that goes down Palafox that starts at 2pm Saturday.
