PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) - Businessmen and women in Pensacola met Tuesday afternoon with the man who could be the next mayor.
Mayoral candidate David Mayo was the guest speaker at Encounter Church.
He spoke some about how he's overcome obstacles after becoming paralyzed while mountain climbing in Idaho in the late 1970s. Mayo is one of three candidates trying to become mayor after Ashton Hayward announced he will not be seeking a third term.
The church just recently started a business luncheon once a month. Pastor Gary Porter says the goal is to bring together businessmen and women of faith.
"Mutually connect, network and be encouraging to one another plus here the individuals like David today are bringing to the forefront the values we are espousing both in our business and personal life in our walk of faith," Porter said.
They meet the first Tuesday of every month at noon at Encounter Church on Pine Forest Road in Pensacola.
