Pensacola Beach Lifeguard Tryouts Being Held for New Applicants

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) -- - Interested in becoming a lifeguard? The Pensacola Beach lifeguards are holding tryouts for new applicants. 

The tryouts are being held on Saturday, January 20, starting at 7 a.m.

Qualifications for the position require: 

  • Be able to swim 600 yards in 10 minutes 
  • Able to run 1½ miles in 12 minutes
  • A valid driver's license
  • React promptly and calmly in emergency, life-threatening situations
  • Possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate is preferred

The tryouts will take place at the University of West Florida Aquatic Center, located in Building 72.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.
