Fort Walton Beach PD responds to Waffle House viral video

Police respond to Waffle House after couple refuses to pay bill

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WKRG) - An incident at a Waffle House in Fort Walton Beach was caught on camera and has gone viral.

The Fort Walton Police Department responded to the incident that happened on May 2 on their Facebook page saying the cell phone video circulating social media doesn't show the full story.

They attached the full body cam video saying it conveys their officers followed proper protocol.

Fort Walton PD says the incident happened at the Waffle House at 318 Miracle Strip Parkway around 1:30 am on May 2.

In the body camera video, you learn the incident is about a high bill and the waitress said the couple refused to pay $2.50 for a large orange juice to-go.

The couple and police start to argue about the incident, the officer eventually pulling a taser on the man, telling him to put his hands behind his back or to pay his bill. The officer does handcuff the man.

In the end, it shows the couple was released and the woman goes back into the story to pay for her to-go order.
