MILTON, Fl. (WKRG) - Update Sunday February 4th 10:28 a.m.
Florida Forest Service firefighters returned to both the Garcon Point 2 and Holding Pond fires this morning and declared them 100% contained.
The Holding Pond Fire remains at 50 acres and the Garcon Point 2 Fire was GPSd to be 150 acres.
Cause is unknown and under investigation for both fires.
Update 6:10 p.m.
The Garcon Point 2 Fire remains 45% contained and is being estimated at 98 acres.
The Holding Pond Fire is 75% contained at about 50 acres.
While the fire came within feet of some homes and 50 structures were threatened initially, the only damages were burned privacy fences.
Florida Forest Service firefighters are leaving the scene for the night but will return in the morning. Smoke signs are posted along area roads and the Florida Highway Patrol is monitoring. Smoke is not anticipated to be an issue overnight, however, if motorists do encounter smoke, they should treat it as fog, do not turn on the high beams and slow to a safe speed. If visibility becomes an issue, you should pull safely off the road and wait for the smoke to clear.

The Garcon Point 2 Fire is now 45% contained and estimated to be at least 100 acres. Crews are making progress on getting the fire contained and are working on burning out sections of forest in order to help secure it. An estimated 50 homes were threatened initially.
The Holding Pond Fire is 50 acres and roughly 75% contained.
Forecast rains should help the situation on both fires but the entire Blackwater area - Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties - remain in a drought status and residents are urged to use the utmost caution if they choose to burn outside.

Six tractor-plow units from the Florida Forest Service are battling two separate fires in the southern end of Garcon Point south of Milton.
One fire remains at 10 acres and the size of the second fire is unknown at this time.
FFS firefighters also are just arriving on scene of a fire near Tobias and Arena roads in Escambia County. One tractor-plow unit is on scene and the fire is estimated at 1.5 acres.
The Florida Forest Service's Blackwater Forestry Center is responding to a wildfire off of Avalon Boulevard on Garcon Point south of Milton.
One tractor-plow unit is on scene with two more en route. The fire is estimated at 10 acres at this time.
