FHP: Navarre Driver Killed After Running Red Light

NAVARRE, Fla. (WKRG) - Florida State Troopers are investigating a fatal car accident where a man has died after a truck collided with his vehicle Tuesday morning. 

According to the accident report, Richard G. Litterst, driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt, was traveling southbound on Edgewood Drive, approaching a red traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 98. 

Another vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Silverado, driven by Geri D. Morse, was approaching the same intersection, traveling west on Hwy. 98, where she had a green light, 

The report states Litterst "disregarded the red traffic signal, drove around stopped traffic and proceeded south" into the Hwy. 98 intersection, violating the right of way for the Silverado. 

When the two vehicles entered the intersection, the accident report states the front of the Silverado collided with the left side, t-boning with the Cobalt. 

Litterst was transported to Gulf Breeze Hospital, where he later died. 

Morse and the two other passengers in the car had minor injuries, according to the report. 

The report states charges are pending the outcome of a traffic homicide investigation.
