Suspect identified in Pensacola double fatal hit-and-run, active search underway

PENSACOLA, FL (WKRG) - UPDATE (3:55 pm) -- Pensacola Police are no longer searching for the gray Lexus 350 Sport 4 door. It has been located. The suspect, Markquise Deshawn Wallace, is still at large says PPD.

Pensacola Police have identified a suspect in the fatal hit-and-run that claimed the lives of two people, including an 8-month-old baby.

Markquise Deshawn Wallace was identified at a Thursday morning press conference by law enforcement as the driver of the white Dodge Challenger used in last week's hit and run on West Cervantes Street.  The driver hit three pedestrians, leading to the deaths of a 28-year-old woman and a 8-month-old baby girl.

Investigators say Wallace rented the Challenger but dumped it after the crash.  He was wearing an ankle monitor from a previous domestic violence-related arrest, but police say he cut it off and is now on the run.

Wallace is now said to be driving a gray Lexus 350 Sport, a four-door sedan. An active search for that vehicle is now underway.

Anyone who sees Wallace or the Lexus he is said to be driving is asked to contact Pensacola Police immediately.
