Beach traffic, neighborhood cleanup, and Gallery Night happening this week in Northwest Florida

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) - Traffic, neighborhood pride and a downtown celebration are making headlines in Northwest Florida this week.

Pensacola Beach Traffic

Pensacola Beach’s designation as the number one beach in Florida is being taken seriously by tourists who are swarming to Santa Rosa island despite the chilly temps. While that’s good news, it leads to a large increase in traffic.

Police are asking you to be careful on the roads, especially when traveling through the Pensacola Bay Bridge construction zone. The traffic count is up as more cars head to the beach, and that often leads to bridge backups and accidents.

Police say don’t speed and don’t text while driving.

Brownsville Neighborhood Cleanup

Are you spring cleaning yet? The Brownsville community is.

Wednesday is Brownsville Northeast Neighborhood Cleanup in Escambia County District 3. You can find a map of the cleanup area and instructions for debris disposal here

Gallery Night in Downtown Pensacola

Palafox Place in Downtown Pensacola will be pedestrian traffic only Friday night from 5-9 for the popular Gallery Night. Music, art, and food are the main attractions.
