WATCH LIVE: Tense moments, guns drawn during Houston Police chase

HOUSTON, Tex (WKRG) - UPDATE: The suspect is in custody after police broke the glass of the car and let a police dog into the car. 

UPDATE: Police have boxed in the driver on a Houston road. 

UPDATE: KTRK reports the suspect may have pistol-whipped someone so police believe he is armed.

The chase started in Baytown, Texas when police responded to a call that the man had pistol-whipped a woman. When they arrived, he took off in the car.

According to Houston CNN affiliate KTRK:

Police have guns drawn on a Houston freeway as a driver who pulled over his SUV after a 45 minute chase before slowly driving away again. There's no word on what prompted the chase.

The police action began at about 7:45 a.m. in east Harris County. Law enforcement agencies have pursued the driver across the south side of Houston, into the Galleria area at times.

Just before 8:30 a.m., Houston police 'bumped' the rear of the vehicle in a PIT maneuver. The driver pulled over to the shoulder on the South Loop eastbound at Kirby.
