Recall alert: 206 million eggs recalled

HYDE CO., Nc (WNCT) - - Out of an abundance of caution, more than 206-million eggs produced from a farm in Hyde County are being recalled. The FDA said the eggs have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.

The eggs were produced at Rose Acre Farms in Hyde County and reached consumers in several states including North Carolina, South Carolina ,Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey and New York. 

Salmonella can cause serious, and sometimes fatal, infections in young children, elderly, or others with weakened immune systems. Healthier individuals could experience fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. 

The Hyde County farm produces 2.3 million eggs each day.

Consumers who have purchased shells eggs are urged to immediately discontinue use of the recalled eggs and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (855) 215-5730 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
