VIDEO: Peacock on the loose in Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) -  A peacock missing from a farm in Mobile County has been making appearances in the Spring Hill area of Mobile.  He was first spotted last week. Since then, families have been on the hunt for the beautiful bird.

Homeowner, Laura Courtney, her ten-year-old daughter, and other friends hopped on bikes when they heard he was in someone's backyard off McGregor Avenue Saturday. In the video they shared with News 5, they jokingly called him the "Spring Hill chicken."

When Courtney and her crew found the peacock, they shrieked with delight, much like the bird!   He was on someone's roof.

"Shazaam!" Courtney exclaimed.

Courtney says she wanted others to join in on the peacock fun, and she started him a Facebook page called "Perees Peacock," and a twitter page. That way, others could post sightings.

"It is a fun thing until he gets back to his house and his lady friend," Courtney said.

Courtney says his owner has been identified. He lives on a farm in Mobile County. The owner says he introduced another male peacock to the brood which made the Spring Hill peacock fly away. Once the bird is spotted again, he plans to bring a "Peahen"  to the spot and see if he will respond to her calls so that he can be captured.

Until then, neighbors in Spring Hill are enjoying the hunt for this colorful bird.
