ORIGINAL STORY:

MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) - A Mobile Police officer known around town and on the internet for his dance skills says he was nearly shot in the line of duty, along with another officer. Officer Jeremy March posted on Facebook Thursday night that a suspect tried to shoot him and another officer earlier in the day.

March has been featured on WKRG and is well known for showing off his dance moves, especially during Mardi Gras. He's also been seen twirling flaming batons with a local twirling group. In the Facebook post he says his brush with death started with an attempt just to help someone. He also thanked a police captain and God for saving their lives.

Well I’ve got to brag on my God today because He protected myself and a fellow officer this morning!... I stopped on my way into work to check on a vehicle which I initially thought was possibly someone needing help. However the vehicle was left running with no one inside. Come to find out it was stolen! To make a long story short, the subject came back to get the car even tho there were clearly two police officers waiting there with the vehicle! During our hands on attempts to subdue the subject, he pulled a gun from his waistband and was going to try to shoot us! We were literally inches away from this subject when he drew the gun! At that point me and my fellow officer was fighting for our very lives! Neither of us was able to get on the radio to request additional help due to our struggle to maintain control over the subjects hands and the weapon!... However God had our backs!!! HE had his hand of protection on us and gave us the strength to maintain control over the subjects hands which held the gun! And God is good because It just so happens another officer (Captain) was driving by at this time and saw us struggling with the subject and stopped to help! It took a little while fighting this guy but we were able to get him into custody without anyone firing a shot!.... The subject later told the Detective that he was trying to kill us!.... God is good all the time and all the time God is good!!!!!
