UPDATE: Fog Delays Return of Carnival Fantasy to Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) - UPDATE 4:20 p.m.: The Carnival Fantasy started its returns back into the bay Monday afternoon after dense fog advisories delayed the ship's return. 

The Visit Mobile Convention and Visitors Bureau posted the following on Facebook:

 

"We have just received word that the Carnival Fantasy will arrive in port at 7 pm tonight and some passengers that want to get off will do so, the remaining passengers will debark tomorrow morning at 7 am. No one will be boarding tonight, so folks will be looking for hotel rooms, restaurants and other things to do tonight in town. Regular boarding will commence tomorrow morning around 10:15 am for those passengers who were supposed to leave today."

 

ORIGINAL STORY: 

Dense fog over the Gulf Coast Monday morning has delayed the return of the Carnival Fantasy cruise ship to the Alabama Cruise Terminal in downtown Mobile.

The Visit Mobile Convention and Visitors Bureau posted the following on their Facebook page:

Due to heavy fog conditions, the Carnival Fantasy will be delayed returning to port and passengers have been asked to not report to the terminal until further notice. We will update this page when we get our next information on estimated time of arrival/boarding from Carnival so check back often!

The Carnival ship is returning from a five-day cruise to Cozumel, Mexico and is scheduled to depart for another five day trip to Cozumel Monday afternoon.

Much of the Gulf Coast is under a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m. on Monday.
