BREAKING: Inmates identified in Mobile Metro Jail stabbing

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) - UPDATE: The Mobile County Sheriff's Office has identified the two inmates who were involved in Thursday morning's stabbing at the Mobile County Metro Jail.

The two inmates are 40-year-old Joshua Sherman Brown and 23-year-old Joshua Dickinson.

Deputies have identified Joshua Brown as the aggressor in the fight. The sheriff's office says he will be charged with Assault 1st and Promoting Prison Contraband 1st.

The sheriff's office says both men were treated for non-life threatening injuries sustained during the incident.

The MCSO Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating.

UPDATE: Investigators say an inmate who was brought to the jail overnight got into a fight with another inmate in a cell. One of the inmates had a knife and cut the other, stabbing him multiple times. The inmate who had the knife was also cut, investigators believe during a struggle over the knife.  Injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The jail is under lockdown while the crime unit investigates the stabbing including interviews. Investigators say they are trying to find out how the knife got into the jail, including reviewing video from security cameras. Right now they believe that the knife was brought in by one of the inmates in the fight who was arrested overnight. "Apparently someone didn't do their job, we're all human and we make mistakes. When you book between 15 thousand and 18 thousand people a year you're not going to get it right 100 percent of the time. When you get it wrong something like a gun or a knife can slip through"  Warden Trey Oliver said during a LIVE interview on the WKRG Facebook page.

Mobile Fire-Rescue provided more information in a press release that reads:

At approximately 9:03 a.m., multiple Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched to Metro Jail for stabbing/multiple victims. According to a Sheriff's Office/Metro Jail spokesperson, 1 inmate victim suffered multiple lacerations and stab wounds to the face, neck, and clavicle/shoulder area. The victim was transported to USA Medical for definitive care. It is unknown whether or not the victim's wounds are life-threatening.

A suspect, also a Metro Jail inmate, is receiving medical attention after being transported to Mobile Infirmary. It is presumed by jail officials that the suspect sustained lacerations during the altercation/struggle with the victim. The suspect's injuries are not life-threatening.
