News 5 Traffic: Roadway Conditions, Closures Following Nate

WKRG Staff - UPDATE, 11:15 a.m. --- 

The Mobile County Public Works assessment team has examined damage to one bridge on Shell Belt Rd. and two bridges on Coden Belt Rd. Damage to all three bridges includes washed out asphalt approaches and displaced riprap, some of which is now on the roadways. An engineering survey to check the bridges for structural safety will be carried out this week. Both roads will remain closed until all repairs are made.

The City of Dauphin Island reports sand across Bienville Blvd. The sand stretches 3 miles and is 6 feet deep.

Highway 90 in Harrison County is closed until 7 p.m. Sunday as MDOT Hwy 90 crews remove sand and debris. MDOT officials advise public to remain off all Mississippi highways as crews assess damage. Do not drive through barricades.

Niceville: Edgewater at Rocky is now open.


All bridges are open. The tolls at the Bob Sikes Bridge are suspended until further notice. Residents who evacuated may return home.
