UPDATE (5:10 p.m.) - Less than 24 hours after a murder in Theodore, Mobile Police have arrested a man and charged him with the shooting death of Deon Dickinson, a 26-year-old found dead Monday night.
Tuesday afternoon, 18-year-old Demarrius Lott was escorted out of Mobile Police Headquarters and placed in a patrol car headed for Mobile Metro Jail.
According to a release from Mobile Police, Lott was named a person of interest after an investigation by homicide detectives. He was picked up and interviewed then charged with murder.
The victim, Deon Dickinson, was found Monday night around 8 p.m. in the 4900 block of Dan Williams Road in Theodore. When officers arrived on the scene, Dickinson was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
ORIGINAL STORY - Mobile Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Theodore Monday night.
When officers arrived on the scene around 9:30 p.m., they located a male victim who had been shot to death.
The man was found in 4000 block of Dan Williams Road in Theodore, which is located off of Old Military Road.
A News Five crew on the scene Monday night saw officers securing the area with crime scene tape. Officers also marked bullet holes and shell casings on the ground near an SUV on the property.
One person was taken into custody by officers on the scene, but it is not known whether the suspect has been charged with a crime.
This is the 39th murder under investigation by the Mobile Police Department in 2016.
