Kayakers rescued from rushing waters in D'Iberville

D'IBERVILLE, Miss (WKRG) - Three young adults were rescued on Sunday from flooding waters in D'Iberville.

According to D'Iberville Police Department, three kayakers became stranded when their kayaks overturned in the Tuxachanie Creek due to the strong current from the heavy rains.

One of the stranded kayakers was able to get in a tree and use a cell phone to call for help. Crews that responded included: The Harrison County Sherriff’s Department, the D’Iberville Police and Fire Departments along with AMR (American Medical Response).

When public safety officials arrived on scene they heard loud screams for help from south of White Plains Road. The three kayakers were trapped by the rushing water and were found holding on to trees. The D’Iberville Police and Fire Swift Water Rescue Team pulled the three to safety. After the rescue, the three were seen by AMR, evaluated and released.
